What’s a Virtual Appliance?

“A virtual appliance is a pre-built software solution, comprised of one or more virtual machines that is packaged, maintained, updated, and managed as a unit. Virtual appliances are fundamentally changing how software is developed, distributed, deployed, and managed.

Virtual appliances are packaged, deployed, managed, and maintained as a unit. They will run on VMware vSphere, VMware Infrastructure (VI), VMware Workstation, VMware Fusion, VMware Server, and VMware Player.”

Why Use Tretflix? Is It Safe?

Tretflix is basically an Ubuntu Server virtual machine, nothing special here. Where it provides value is through the CLI which I developed to help install, configure and upgrade applications, configure basic Linux services easily and maintain interoperability between applications. Aside from utilizing Github to push CLI updates, there are no “call home” operations or other questionable features to speak of. I invite everyone to have a look at the CLI and/or the source code (which is hosted publicly on Github) and decide if they approve.
